Bio

Ning is a Postdoctoral Scholar with research interest in climate-vegetation-water interactions. Her research work strives to address the global challenges in climate dynamics, water availability, and sustainable agriculture. Prior to joining UC Davis, she worked as a Project Scientist at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources focusing on applied research on climate dynamics and its impact on sustainable agriculture to improve crop management decisions and reduce production risks associated with climate variability and climate change. She has research experience on drought monitoring, crop yield prediction, soil water estimation and teleconnection-chilling hours connection. She completed her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University, developing new soil moisture products by combining in situ, remote sensing and modeled data over South Central United States. Her research training includes another PhD degree in Cartography and GIS from Peking University, China, and a bachelor’s in Geographic Information System from Chang’an University, China.
