Visiting Groups
Agricultural Drought Mitigation Center from KRC, Korea
Representatives from the Agricultural Drought Mitigation Center of Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) visited UC Davis to study California's drought management strategies.
The center, which specializes in agricultural drought forecasting through 1-, 3-, and 6-month predictive mapping, gained valuable insights into California's agricultural water efficiency research and the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
Agricultural Environment Conservation Team from KRC, Korea
The Agricultural Environment Conservation Team from Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) visited UC Davis to study California's agricultural water management practices and environmental programs.
The team, which oversees Korea's Agricultural Environment Conservation Program, focused on understanding soil and water conservation strategies, nitrogen and salinity management, and climate change adaptation practices.
Their visit included collaborative sessions with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to study the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) implementation and management.
Hankyong National University, Korea
Faculty and students from Hankyong National University, South Korea, visited the UC Davis Agricultural Water Center and research facilities.
The visit facilitated knowledge exchange on agricultural water management and hydrological modeling research. Both institutions explored collaborative research opportunities and potential joint publications.
The delegation toured the Bullseye research field, where they examined advanced research equipment including the Eddy Covariance Tower, neutron probe access tubes, and soil chambers.
Joint Research Team for Natural Disaster Response Plan, Korea
A distinguished delegation from South Korea's Joint Research Team for Natural Disaster Response Plan, comprising members from The Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers (KSAE), Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), Saman Corporation, and ISAN Corporation, participated in a comprehensive seminar on agricultural drought and flood response strategies.
Professor Isaya Kisekka presented FARMs (Food, Agriculture, and Resource Management system), a sophisticated web-based platform utilizing GIS technology for agricultural water management decision-making.
The visit included meetings with California's Department of Water Resources (DWR) and State Water Resource Control Board (SWRCB) in Sacramento.
